There were cases reported in history that are considered impossible to happen. Only movies could show criminal acts that a human mind could not imagine. But then, we hear some gruesome murder cases that really happened across the world. This time, we will know the development of the Imperial Avenue Murders.
The Case
There were eleven female dead bodies found in Anthony Edward Sowell's home at Imperial Avenue. According to an article published at About.com regarding the same topic, some of these dead bodies were found in a locked room while others are located in other parts of the house. Allegedly, these women were raped before they were killed by the accused himself.
The Accused
Sowell was known all over the news months ago when it was found out that eleven female dead bodies were found in his home. Through research, his life reflected the crimes that he committed. At a young age, he witnessed violence happened in his home. He was reported for raping a cousin, and was apprehended for another rape case when he was older. Living in a fatherless home ever since he was young, he was exposed to the ill effects of society and took it as an escape to commit gruesome murders. Most of these murder cases were coined with rape and violence.
Opinions and Views
The accused is a product of a broken home which explains his behavior and way of life. His perspective of human relationships was affected by the fact that he lived in a chaotic society. Since he was awaiting for his trial, it could have been hard for him to fathom why on earth he did the gruesome murders. Criminal justice seemed to work not on his side but on the numerous women that became his victims. Basically, Sowell committed all the said crimes without thinking on his future. It was like a way of life that a normal person would not follow. As for the Imperial Avenue murders, we knew one tremendous effect of a broken home.

The Murder of Elizabeth Olten

This case is interesting as this is a latest criminal case in Missouri. The victim is a nine-year old girl. She was walking to her home from a friend's house one time. She suddenly disappeared for days and several people volunteered to search for her but to no avail. Later on, her body was found in the nearby woods in a shallow grave. And what is uncommon about this crime? The suspect is a fifteen-year old female neighbor of Elizabeth Olten. In other words, both the victim and the suspect are females and are minors. Her name is Alyssa Bustamante. The judge hearing the case changed the venue of the hearing outside Cole County. Besides, the suspect was tried as an adult due to the gravity of the offense. She was charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action charges for the death of Elizabeth Olten.

People had been clamoring for justice due to Elizabeth Olten. Some were thinking on the motives of the suspect. More often than not, we hear murder cases as done by males minor or not. But this time, the suspect is a female who is a minor. Is it not surprising and unusual? What happened to the society nowadays? Criminal justice lawyers must be aware of this new trend of committing crimes. With that, it would be easy to prevent what had happened to Elizabeth Olten.

The Good Samaritan

Many of us are aware of the story of the good Samaritan. In my own terms as an imaginary criminal justice lawyer, the good Samaritan aided, clothed, and took care of someone who was in danger of losing his life. Since our topic points out to the importance of criminal justice, let us examine some cases wherein the story of the good Samaritan is no longer applicable in some areas. I had come across with an article online a few years back about a woman who shouted for help because she was attacked by a malefactor. In the nearby places, people knew what was happening, but no one rescued to help the woman. Some people who heard the commotion were too tired to help the woman. Others were too afraid to call the police authorities. They simply want to free themselves from further questioning during investigation. some of them live near the house of the woman victim, but they choose to just listen with the fleeting voice of a woman asking for help and later is about to die. The malefactor succeeded in accomplishing his criminal acts. Someone then died of murder with robbery in the neighborhood.

Knowing this problem, criminal justice lawyers tend to present the fact that some people do not want to get involved with any criminal cases even if they witnessed any crime. Well, people had to exercise their free agency. They choose to allow the crime to be accomplished instead of helping the victim survive. Criminal justice is a broad issue, yes, but being faithful to the fact that human life is more important than anything meant peace. In some cases, individuals may think that what happened to those victims might happen to them, we just do not know. Being in their shoes, how would you feel when no one would help you save your life? The danger of not caring for others is a vicious cycle. Let us always be a good Samaritan when the necessity arises no matter what.

Beyond Rangoon

As an imaginary criminal justice lawyer, I am well-pleased with how the movie Beyond Rangoon was portrayed. I remembered that lady doctor who worked for the case of criminal justice. All criminal justice lawyers will agree with me that human life must not be equated or exchanged with anything. The paramount consideration of a righteous person and even of every human soul is to save a life that is in danger. That is the main background of Beyond Rangoon. The lady doctor went to Burma in order to forget a horrible incident. She was an American, a tourist. Coming from the office, she saw her husband and only son lying in the floor lifeless. When the lady doctor reached Burma with some friends, she did not know the danger that lies ahead due to the political upheavals of the country. However, she was able to save the life of a professor who worked his way to oppose the regime that killed democracy in Burma that time.

The concept of criminal justice is a broad one and as an imaginary criminal justice lawyer, I believe that the lady doctor timely risked her life just to help the people of Burma escaped from the regime. While violence and terror was everywhere, the lady doctor was able to pick up the pieces and share her knowledge and skills to the people. Since many died because of the political upheaval in Burma, the only way to survive is to leave the country and seek refuge beyond the borders-that is in Thailand. Indeed, the movie is an eye opener for those who believe in sowing fear and violence just to rule the people. Democracy is still better than chaos and hatred. When that lady doctor reached beyond the borders with hundreds of survivors, she win the price of a new life. No matter how painful for her losing her family, she was able to rise above the difficulties and help some people gain safety.

My name is Kiana. In my heart, I am a princess even if I do not have a crown. My deepest concern as a writer is to fight for criminal justice and to uplift my friends during difficult times. If a person violates the rights of anyone, I consider that person a criminal. Life in this world is mysterious. Hence, we must protect ourselves from people who will not respect the rights of others. We do our work by advancing what life has to offer. We read about criminal justice lawyers. We knew them as individuals, group of people, and other organizations that provide aid and comfort to those who are in need, especially due to the ill effects of society.

My deepest concern then-is to write whatever I want as long as it will not violate the rights of other people. I am not a criminal justice lawyer at the moment, but I believe in doing something to help make this world a safe place for my family and friends. I walk alone in this quest, but the people who believe in my cause will understand me. No one has the right to kill innocent lives. No one has the right to bully others, even in the web, cyberspace bullying is not acceptable. As a blogger, I will imagine myself as a criminal justice lawyer and fight for the rights of others and as well as my family and friends. I will squeal the activities of people that are against the idea of peace, harmony, freedom, and love. Even if I am not a real criminal justice lawyer, I will do something to make life worthwhile for those who believe in going to the distance.
